Gallery WM presents Endless Escape, the first solo exhibition in Amsterdam by Japanese photographer Sakura Nakayama. The exhibition brings together raw analogue photographs and short texts that trace movements between Tokyo, Okinawa and Amsterdam. Shot with flash and a sense of immediacy, the images capture fleeting moments with an intimate, unfiltered perspective.

The works were created before and after Nakayama’s move from Japan to Amsterdam, reflecting a constant sense of transition. Rather than romanticising the idea of escape, the series presents it as something instinctive and deeply human. In Nakayama’s photographs, leaving is not about disappearance, but about survival.
